What information about guests do we collect?

To use the HouseBot forums, registration requires a username, password and email address, first and last name.
The forum software (PHPBB) allows users to enter other information such as interests, occupation, website, etc., but these are all optional and not used in any way outside of the features of the forum.

To use the HouseBot portal, registration requires only a Name, email address, and password.

Username and passwords are used to verify the user login for security. Usernames may also be displayed in search results of public postings in the forum.

We will never request your password, user name or other personal information through email. This practice, called "phishing", is a scam designed to steal your personal information. If you receive an email that looks like it is from us asking you for your personal information, do not respond.

Google and Facebook User Data

The My.HouseBot.com portal allows users to login using their existing Google or Facebook accounts. Users names and email addresses are the only data collected and are only used for registration on My HouseBot.com. No additional information is collected from these services, and names and emails are never shared.

How do I delete my data?

HouseBot Purchase Information

Purchase fulfillment of a HouseBot license is managed through FastSpring. Although we have access to view general order information supplied to Fastspring (e.g. name, address, email, etc.), we do not have access to any financial or credit information.

What are "Cookies" and how do we use them?

Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer's hard drive through your web browser.

The forums use cookies to maintain a user's identity between sessions and between requests so that the site can be personalized.

The portal uses cookies to maintain a user's identity between sessions and between requests also. Since the portal provides access to a home control portal, cookies also provide a layer of securty and access control.

Users can not create forum or portal accounts unless cookies are enabled in their browser

Secure Connections (HTTPS)

Secure connections are used to encrypt and protect all information sent and recevied to your browser. Secure connections are used when purchasing a HouseBot license through FastSpring. All interactions through the portal also use secure connections.

Does our website share information it receives?

We do not share any information provided by the users with other sources. Site analytics are provided by Google Analytics and do not include any account information. IP addresses that are used for internal purposes are not linked to any personally identifiable information.

E-Mails

Both the forums and portal require a valid email address during registration. This email address is necessary to validate the account initially and to aid in forgotten passwords.

We do not send registered users any form of unsolicited emails. If we were to add such emails in the future, the user will be required to opt-into the lists.

We will never share email addresses or any personal information with outside organizations for any reason.
