Intermittant delay from 10xf devices

Post by raptor_demon »

Hi,

I have 5 x10 slim swithces and some ds10a's around the place and i have noticed that sometimes upon pressing a button on the slim switch or triggering a ds10a there can be a delay ranignig from a few seconds to 15 seconds before anyhting happens. this is affecting the WAF factor.

this does not happen all the time and the system does not appear to be over loaded.

I am using a w800 plugged into the comport.

I am running WHS on an atom 330 with 2gb of ram.

any ideas?

If the signal is just being sent once (you only hit the button once), and you are seeing nothing for 15 seconds then it does sound like something in the plugin, but when the w800 receives the signals, it is pretty much instantaneous in notifying the plugin and triggering tasks. If you are sending multiple signals (since the first press didn't do anything), then it may have to do with the signal reception between the transmitter and the w800. Could be low battery, rf obstacles, or other rf interference.

Check to make sure there are no errors being reported in HouseBot from the W800. You may also want to run a hardware interface trace on the W800 to see if it shows anything.

Ok,

Ive done some testing here and i am a little confused.
4 of the 5 slim switches are currently in use,

A&B are in the bedroom for controlling the lights and fan, runs a task that switches the lights
C is in the kitchen for switching the lights down there, runs a task that switches the lights
D is in the bedroom for controlling the squeeze box players. runs a task that talks to the squeezebox via xAP

A,B & C have only a very slight delay, maybe a few seconds if that and seem to work consitantly
D on the otherhand seems to have a 15second or more delay.

Looking at the logs and housebot, the device that is the reciever for slimswitches the device codes do not update qucikly. the log shows the signal coming in more or less instanly but sometiems housebot does not update.

I have swapped around the batteries and they are all good.

As for RF A,B & D are in the same spot so not sure about the RF signal there...

any ideas?

That is strange. If you see the hardware interface trace showing it received the signal, it should be propagated to the Device instantly. There should be no delay. Do you see any other messages in the hardware interface trace about it debouncing the signal or any kind of warning message?
