Multiple Devices

Post by ericvic »

Is there a way to have a task set a property on multiple devices in a group without having to specify each device in the task? I think the answer is no but I want to make sure I'm not missing something.

For instance say I have some lights that I want to come on at sunset and off again at sunrise. It would be nice to put all the lights in a group and control the group instead of having to list each device in each task. That way if you wanted to change the list of devices you could do it on one place and not have to update multiple tasks.

If they're X10 devices you can put them all in the same HouseCode and then use the X10 Controller Device to perform a group action on the HouseCode.

Other than that, there's no built-in way to do this. I'm sure you could also do something clever with a script.

Scott,

That's what I thought. I'll take a look at the X10 Controller device.
