Running SWRemote from USB drive without install

Post by edgar »

Hello everyone,

Can SWRemote be executed from a USB drive without installing it on a computer?

If not, what would it take to do this? Is it even possible?

Only reason I ask is that this would provide access to HB from anywhere, if you had your thumb drive with you........I don't really want to install the SWRemote on my friends computer, but want to show off that I can control my house from there.

I know this capability is in competitiion with simply doing a Remote Desktop solution, but I do like the neatness/compactness of the SWRemote.

Thanks in advance.

I think the only thing that would trip you up would be the registry info that the SWremote creates. You could either not worry about it and enter the config info each time you start the SWRemote from a new computer, or you could export the registry info to a file, store that .reg file on the usb drive with the swremote and then from a batch file import the registry on the computer, then launch the swremote.

BTW, the HB SWremote registry stuff is at HCCU\Software\CeBotics\HouseClient
