Will HB function as a distributed audio system yet? Can different rooms be controlled individually. How about multiple touchscreens with room specific displays?
I am building a home and the wife wants distributed audio.....

This is available out of box by setting up different Software remotes.
As for Distributed Audio, it depends.

HouseBot now supports running multiple instances of WinAmp. So, install a few soundcards each being handle by a different WinAmp. Set-up some Software Remotes. You now have a poor man's version of distributed audio.
Distributed audio, thanks

Ok, lets say I am using 4 or 5 usb touchscreens... Could these Software Remotes be specific to each with the controls on that screen controlling the audio or even lighting in that room? And could that remote also, if I chose, control the audio to the rest of the house. (like at night turn it all off?)

This is basically what I do right now. I have a Xantech ZPR68 six zone audio/video distribution system. I have touchscreens in each of the zones and each touchscreen runs a software remote using a theme that has been customized for that zone.
The themes share much in common (for controlling the components connected to the distribution system) but lighting, volume and source selection are zone specific. Also each theme has an "All AV Off" button that turns off the distribution system and each of the components.
