Supports syntax highlighting for several programming languages including Visual Basic Script and eXtensible Markup Language. Free software.

My favorite editor is TextPad

It is a VERY powerful editor with tons of features.

I'll add my favorite to the list - Notepad++. It's open source (free), is frequently updated and does syntax highlighting for *many* languages.

Wow! I'm impressed with Notepad++! I've retired my other freeware text and hex editors and switched to Notepad++. Thanks for the tip!

Every programmer or administrator I have shown that to has had the same reaction. It's really powerful! :D

I have been using ConTEXT, which has different highlighters for various languages/scripts/etc. and a bunch of features...

Nothing else I've found comes close. I even had a Homeseer highlighter at one time, though I've lost it...

Hooked to Ultra Edit.
Source coloring for just about every language and really the only editor I have been using for years so I wouldn't know anything about Notepad++. Maybe I will try it out some day.
