Scott,



I wanted to have buttons on my theme send HEX data to the comfort system to initiate IR commands...so what I did was:



1. create tasks for each command...ie VCR power on, Receiver Power on etc. They are 'change value' type tasks.



2. I created a device...for each device...and properties for each as appropriate. The values are changed by the tasks as above.



3. I created a hardware serial device and have listed in hex all of the commands and then linked these commands to each property as above.



4. And finally, each theme button is linked to the task.



This all works fine, but seemed quite a bit of work....can you please let me know if I could have done this any simpler??

Why couldn't you just skip the Tasks and use Property Change buttons on the Theme to directly control the Devices and their Properties? Unless you need to change multiple Properties with a single button, I wouldn't create the Tasks.
