Minimize Remote

Post by Richard Naninck »

It would be nice to have the option to minimize a remote to the system tray in stead of the button bar. It would also be very nice then to have the option to autostart a software remote minimized to the system tray. This way it can be loaded at boottime and be available without having to do heavy disc loading at one mouse click in the system tray.

Or is this already possible?

Another one in the same catagory:

If the HBServer window exits from a minimized to system tray bar state, it wil re-open in the system tray bar -> that's nice.

If the HBServer windows last exit state was from anything else then the system tb (say maximized), it will re-open in that same state after an exception or a windows reboot even if the exception or reboot occured with the HBServer window minimized to the stb. So in short, the last EXIT state is used after a HBServer restart.

Feature request: Like to have an option that says "Open HBServer minimized in STB". This way the last exit state doesn't matter, it will always open in the stb. This option is different from the one already available in the program options "Minimize to System Taskbar Tray" because this feature only minimizes to the stb in stead of the button bar.

Reason: I have an auto restart HBServer script running and sometimes after an exception has occured or when the HBServer is killed and restarted by the windows scheduler, the server is opened maximized depending on the last exit state in stead of the last window state.

Not a very big feature request since it doesn't bother me that much, but it seems that it could be a simple one to build.

More in that category:

It would help to have an option in HBServer to 'start minimized' and 'start hidden'

Reasons:
Users use SWRemote and not HBServer. If HBServer restarts (like after system boot or after HBServer error), there's no reason to show the HBServer window. It's much better to have it minimized to system tray or hidden.

Also, in some occations, it is needed to *prevent* the user from accessing HBServer. In these cases, the 'hidden' option is necessary.

Start hidden would be a nice commercial feature.
Start minimized actually works already depending on the last exit state. If an exit was done using the right mouse button when the server was minimized in the system tray, its next start will also be minimized in the system tray no matter how the server was restarted either being an exception or a reboot and it doesn't matter if the server window was not minimized at the time of restart. So only "the last exit state" matters here!
If the server was exited (not being an exception or reboot, but just a user enforced exit while not minimized, its next start will also not be minimized.
When you think about it, I see no reason for the server at all to start maximized but that was also discussed in the previous posting.
