Pocket PC infrared port control through HouseBot

Post by Zei »

Hi,

Any plans the make it possible to also control or turn software remote to a physical infrared remote by utilizing Pocket PC's infrared port like in e.g. Vito remote http://www.pocketgear.com/software_deta ... ciateid=17

Would be nice to have everything in software remote...

No plans that I know of.

You can currently use a Software Remote to control IR equipment with a supported IR transmitter. Although this requires an additional hardware component to your system, it does:
  • Centralize all activity at the HouseBot server. This allows you to trigger tasks, Modes, and update other Software Remotes from IR actions.
  • Improve the IR rage beyond the IRDA capabilities of the Pocket PC.

There's no specific documentation on how to do just this. It's just one of the many ways you can configure HouseBot. If you download the trial, you can read through the online help and get an idea for some of the specifics. Depending on the IR Transceiver that you might use, you may need to download a separate plugin from here.

In general, what will happen is that when you press a button on the Software Remote Theme, it will send the Property Change request to the HouseBot server over the network. This can be configured to do many things, but in the simplest case would cause the learned IR code to be sent using the IR transmitter attached to the HouseBot server.
