Re: HouseBot and Amazon Echo

Since yesterday I am able to run my own skill. Had to do lots of registrations everywhere but I can now get and set properties in HouseBot using my own ASK skill labelled 'Computer'. The very basic works and I am now thinking about what the best solution would be concerning Slot Types. I think I wil...

Re: HouseBot and Amazon Echo

Currently running the Bridge from the first post in this thread with succes. It failed discovery until I stopped using --server.port= The list with extra phrases I posted from Reddit now also works. Open and Stop however don't seem to work but that is probably for Obvious reasons. The HB Smart Home ...

Re: HouseBot and Amazon Echo

I was able to buy an Echo today and can control HouseBot with it using the Smart Home Skill. Tried to rate it 5 stars but I don't see the review yet because it has to be reviewed first;) Amazing what this thing can do. Can't wait to see smart phones and smart watches with Alexa installed. Scott, wha...

Re: HouseBot and Amazon Echo

Thanks Steve for the added info. I wouldn't mind using a different word for HouseBot. I am sure we can figure multiple names that would make sense and which would be understood by the Echo. Alexa, ask 'my system' to ... my home my setup the computer my assistant jarvis  angel ... For sure I wi...

Re: HouseBot and Amazon Echo

LOL. I can see how this would have the potential to explode beyond to where it stops making sense but how about limiting the phrases the same way as the Alexa View in the Smart Home HouseBot Skill. Therefore I named my NULL Device "Alexa Reporting" in my example above. Just the Properties ...

Re: HouseBot and Amazon Echo

Would it be possible to come up with or expand the current HouseBot skill with the ASK statement? Alexa, Ask HouseBot to say Outside Temperature Device Properties could be read back with their name followed by the value. NULL Device: Alexa Reporting Properties: Outside Temperature = -0.3C Inside Tem...

Re: HouseBot and Amazon Echo

Thanks Scott. Could you please test out the phrases listed in this link: https://www.reddit.com/r/amazonecho/comments/4gaf05/discovery_a_lot_more_smart_home_action_phrases/ Google would probably be way more flexible. I will buy myself into 1 Echo Dot just to get rid of the native Windows / HouseBot ...

Re: HouseBot and Amazon Echo

Thanks all for the replies. Not all of my questions were understood I guess, so here my second try of explaining. I didn't mean to put two Echoes in the same room however multiple Echoes could be within hearing distance of eachother. I know that the Echoes will figure out which one you stand closest...

Re: HouseBot and Amazon Echo

Thanks Scott, that is good to know. I did't get that from this thread. I guess the jar could also only turn switches on and off plus a percentage. Really want to start using this echo and it will make more sense once I get it to work. So here some questions still: 1. can I say; turn on tv in living ...

Re: HouseBot and Amazon Echo

Probably best asked in another Echo from but maybe you guys have the answer... Does the Echo support other deviceTypes than just "switch"? ("deviceType" : "switch") Apple Siri uses lots of different types (Door, Lock, Switch, Lightbulb etc). For each type it uses differ...

Re: Problem with USB Serial port.. Not a HB issue, but is.

I have had this problem with USB to serial devices that are extended using a CAT 5 extender. Out of the 3 extenders I have, 2 of them halt my comms after a day or so. Not sure how your Arduino is connected though. Maybe try a different USB port on a different hardware hub. Last week I exchanged a 4 ...

Re: Apple HomeKit Interface

I have been running Apple Homekit since last year and it runs fine. Using a raspberry with the homekit bridge running a http interface which sets and gets values using the same manner as done with the Echo bridge. Probably not an answer to your question but it shows it can be done. I use it as an ex...

Re: Consistency issue with Remotes

That's a known issue or maybe even a feature however the workaround is not using indicators but dynamic images on x86 remotes.
