Re: MQTT support

Sounds great! Sonoff was the manufacturer that I saw- definitely have to look into this more.

Re: MQTT support

Did this ever go anywhere? Ran across a guy using arduino modules with WiFi for like $5 each, talking MQTT... would be a nice addition.

Re: Sample script to access SQLite database

Wow, and I thought I was daring when I used to tweak the MDB with external tools between runs. ;-)

Hey, the rss feed seems to be dead. Is this a permanent thing, ie, should I remove it? I only realized it recently, so I've missed at least couple of months of "stuff".

Re: Echo/Alexa Capability

Just got my Echo Dot and am setting it up. The integration is just awesome- works great!!!

One comment- the new Execute Task Device- lists Power OFF Task, Power ON task, but the task pickers list ON then OFF. Just a tiny UI nit. ;-)
5 stars given!

Re: HouseBot and Amazon Echo

Didn't see much for technical changes, other than a faster CPU and the volume wheel. I'm not planning to use the volume controls much anyways. Most of the comments are people complaining that they bought the 1st gen for more money. Having done a teardown on the Echo, I'm not surprised that they were...

Re: Windows 10 - OK so far...

We've gone over to android on phones and tablets. I have a stack of old HW that I need to get rid of.... some old Intermec touch screens, couple others. Probably not worth the cost of shipping... the yankee in me hates to just toss them in the recycle. ;-)

Re: Windows 10 - OK so far...

My upside was that it came pre-installed. I use my box headless, so graphics drivers and such aren't an issue- and I was upgrading from win 2k.... I should probably see what I left the settings at for updates, but they can't be too bad as I haven't noticed the machine going down and ne...

Re: Relay board?

Interesting... I suppose I could hack something like this by breaking apart the three channels (my LEDS are single color).

Thanks!

Re: Relay board?

Thanks guys. Of course I'm all hung up now- looking for ways to get better control (dimming, mostly). May end up doing something custom... I found some low cost PWM dimmers with external pots... thinking I can easily replace the pot with a digital one over I2C, then I see SW from FTDI to run I2C out...

Re: Relay board?

Hi Tony-

I looked for Neopixels HW but didn't really see any kind of controls- just lots of smaller "chunks" of LEDs, mostly RGB. Do they make any kind of a PWM controller?

Thanks

Re: Relay board?

Dimming would be nice, other than that, I don't really need a bunch of other stuff. Housebot will do all the complex controls, I just want to get away from having a powerline control shut on/off a 12v brick for each string of lights that I may have. I'm not planning on replacing all the other lighti...

Re: Relay board?

The USB one is an STM8 micro controller (cheaper than FTDI, probably). Already found a youtube where someone didn't like the code on it and replaced it with their own cpu. ;-) LAN is a little more expensive, but also gives much more flexibility. How would you issue the commands? Only thing I have co...

Relay board?

I'm starting to play around with some 12v LED lighting, and am considering using central relays to control it. I find stuff like this- http://www.ebay.com/itm/371252564401?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and http://www.ebay.com/itm/121745192328?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l...

Yep, that did the trick! I am not running as admin or anything.
