Context ID support for opening panels from tasks

After making some changes today to leverage context support, I realized there was one other feature that would be nice to have. You can open panels from a task, but there is no mechanism to specify a Context ID. If this existed it would make maintaining my multiple copies of remotes (which are mainl...

Re: Context problems in the theme editor

Ok - I get it now, and that makes perfect sense. I think this, plus the option for a context name label (which I hadn't remembered seeing before) should allow me to replace my six independent thermostat panels with one! :D

Context problems in the theme editor

A recent conversation made me want to try playing with context-based property changes again. I went to a panel change control and added the context. Then I went to the property change button, and selected the desired context from the dropdown list. However, when I want back to that property, it was ...

Re: Windows 8

I'll have to check on the button press issue when I get home, but as to the network card, I've unfortunately not found a way to do that. :( Have you found a Windows 8 tablet that allows disabling (I suspect it's really more a function of who writes the driver)? On a related note, on occasion when I ...

Re: Windows 8

I don't know anything about that particular tablet, but it seems to have decent specs. If you have time, it might be useful to search for some reviews first to see what other people think.

Re: Nice new software remote device

I've been using Windows 8 on my ExoPC and Samsung ATIV-500 as well. The issue I had (and I suspect the one you are referring to) is that often when I wake up the device, it has lost connection to the HB server and doesn't seem to be able to get it back without closing and restarting the remote. My b...

Re: Ode to Housebot...

My system became so huge over the years that switching to something else really is not an option anymore :D The same is definitely true for me. Even though I just found (and posted about) a nice new Windows-based device for use as a software remote, it would be nice if there were also iOS / Android...

Nice new software remote device

This is just a quick post to let people know about a nice portable device for running a software remote. I just bought a Dell Venue 8 Pro windows tablet. I bought it specifically for use as a software remote device. I've only had a few hours with it but I already really like it. I fell in love with ...

Re: Wrapper for C# plugin development!

This is fantastic news! :D I'll give this a try. Also, is your TCP client device something you previously posted? I could definitely use something like that as I transition from RS-232 devices to network devices. By the way, I seem to remember having the same crash issue on instantiation of a second...

Re: Housebot Alive! New Video of EDGAR

I don't come to the forums too often these days, but I still heavily use Housebot every day! It's now running on a Windows 7 server with Windows 8 clients, but it still just keeps plugging along. :D

Re: Windows 8

On a related note, a coworker recently showed me a remote desktop app for the iPad called Jump Desktop. This one fully supports Windows 8 gestures and appears to allow the iPad to be used as if it were a Windows 8 tablet (assuming you have a Windows 8 desktop that you can RDP to). I figured I would ...

Correct - software remotes require the full version of Windows 8.

Re: Windows 8

Yep - I have a Samsung tablet that came with Windows 8. I also upgraded my ExoPC tablet to WIndows 8. These tablets are dedicated exclusively to software remote duties. They work great, although occasionally, the software remote app crashes during panel load (usually the first time after a reboot of...

Re: SWRemote on a tablet

For a laptop replacement, I think there are already a few choices and I suspect you'll see a number more in the coming months. I was considering buying a Microsoft Surface Pro and using it for a software remote tablet. But then I found that it was 1920x1080, and while this sounds good, I already had...

Re: SWRemote on a tablet

I was hoping your post #1000 would be in this thread - congratulations Richard! :D I looked at the 700 as well, but since this tablet was purchased as a dedicated software remote, I opted for the cheaper 500. I debated getting the keyboard for the 500, but decided against it to reduce cost and size....
