I've been reading them a lot recently as I'm learning! It would be nice to perhaps see it set to "Yes" while it is trying to send email (as it retries if it fails and can take minutes to run), and then set to No once it has completed. That way you can check the Device and see if its trying...

Email Sender Device

Got a problem with this:- I have it setup and it successfully sends email for me on the first attempt, as logged in the system log. The problem is, Send Message always says set at Yes - according to the docs. it should set back to No once its completed. Its not really an issue as setting it to Yes a...

Yes, using VB Script is what I thought.

There are a few free command line POP3 utilities (one called Postie looks good), so i guess I could call this to retrieve the email and parse the output and then call an appropriate housebot task.

Sounds feasible?

I used to be a programmer many years ago so I think learning Visual Basic may be easier - presumably there are scripts out there already to do this or I can use some internal function perhaps?

I will see if I can find some nice tutorials......

Email Plugin to receive email and start tasks

I would like to be able to control Housebot via my mobile phone. I can go via an SMS message from my phone to Email gateway and direct email to an account that Housebot could use. So if Housebot could access an POP3 server and act on say the Subject or Body of the email and fire off a task that woul...

Hi Scott, I have switched tracing on so will see what happens. From memory when I've had it tracing before, you are expecting to read 1 byte but there are zero in the buffer. As I can just run the command again and it typically works, perhaps that could be added as an retry option in the future but ...

Hi Scott, I am suffering from this problem with a CM12U also (insufficient data in read buffer). I'm running Housebot 1.63 on my server which is on 24x7. The scenario I currently have is, a command to say turn on a lamp works fine but then the next command which may be a few hours later fails with t...
